chuck berry(m2)

I would have to say Chuck berry is one of the earliest rock and roll artists out there and one of the greatest too!  The great Chuck berry was born on October 18, 1926, in Louis Missouri. When Chuck Berry was a  boy he showed great interest to music; when he was 6 year  showed great talent for music and joined a church choir. That was only the beginning for chuck berry's musical  career  he also went into talent shows and he was interested in guitars he taught himself to play one. in Grade school chuck was a trouble makers and he didn't like school at all and in 1944 when he was 17 years old him and his two buddy's dropped out of high school. After he dropped out  he went on the wrong path  and went on a robing spree. It turned out very bad at the end and chuck got arrested by a highway patrolmen after stealing a car.Then Chuck berry went to jail for a few years for all of the changes and after that he did nothing for a few years when he moved to Chicago and that is where all the musical magic happened. In 1955 a few weeks after chuck moved there he started writing songs and he recorded  a great song and it shot up the musical charts and it was called Maybellene. Some other songs  That chuck Berry played were  too much monkey business, you can never tell, no particular place to go, back in the USA, I'm talking about you, mean old world and brown eyed handsome man. Some great accomplishments Chuck berry had was  being a  huge influence for rock and roll and starting it too. Another accomplishment he had was being the first one ever inducted into the rock and roll in 1986 and that in 1985 he won a Grammy life time achievement award.  I would have to say that Chuck Berry is one of the fathers of rock and roll!

david bowie (m1)

  David Robert Jones aka  David Bowie is one of the greatest singers of rock and roll of his time! When young David bowie was just a young lad  he few in love with music at a very young age. When David was 13 years old he learned how to play the saxophone and a big influence on  David bowie to get into music was his brother  terry; who got David into rock and roll when he was only nine years old.  When David graduated high school when was 16  years old  and  after school  he started working as a commercial artist. When he was working as a commercial artist  he played in bands on the side and  David changed his last name to Bowie because he didn't want to be mistaken with head singer from the Monkees  David Jones. He thought of the last name Bowie because of a man who made a knife in the 19th century. After a few years singer in the few bands he did,David bowie  decided  to go out on his own in the music world and 1969 David bowie full time job was all about music! When he devoted his  life to music he signed with Mercury records and recorded and released his single Space oddity.  David bowie  started to get successful but the one thing that set him over the top was in 1970 when he released his album called The man who sold the world. Some Nick names David Bowie got was Ziggy stardust and the pop chameleon  and   a quote David bowie once said was "when I'm  stuck for  a closing to a lyric, I will drag to my last resort: overwhelming illogic.  Some of David  Bowie songs are  let's dance, rebel rebel, dancing in the street, life on mars, The Stars and I'd rather be high.One big accomplishment in David Bowie life was in 1996 when he was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame.

John mellencamp(L2)

 John Mellencamp is one of the best musical artists of his time! John  was born in Seymour, Indiana and he would move to The big apple aka New York city. In the beginning of john mellencamps career he wasn't really a rock singer at all he was more pop then anything but the changed over  years of singing in  to more rock and roll. John  Started to love music at a very young age and  his first album was released in 1976 and the album failed to sell and the people where saying that john mellencamp was like a lesser of  bob seger. But johns luck soon changed in 1979 when  he released  his first amazing hit  I need a lover and after that it was smooth sailing! John made his best album in 1982  with American fool and after he released it, it shot up on the charts  and   from that album one of his songs were so good that john Mellencamp won The Grammy for the best rock vocal performance by a male.

bob marley(L1)

Nesta Robert Marley aka bob Marley is one of the best  rockers of  his time! Bob Marley got into  music at a very young age because his childhood friend  got him into and he influenced bob to start playing guitar.  in the very beginning of his musical career  he started out playing in his home town called trench town and that was the poorest neighborhood. when bob Marley was there  he worked to perfect his singing abilities. in 1963  Bob and a few of his friends tried to put a band together  the group was called the wailing waiters and there first hit single was simmer down. The band was a huge hit in Jamaica  for a few years but   the band didn't really have a lot of money and started getting into finical  trouble and get split up. After that  Bob Marley and his mother moved to the united states. He come here for about 8 months and then he went back to Jamaica  but before he went back he found a lady he really like. Got married and he got married in 1966 to Rita Anderson. Some highlight of bob Marley's  life are that in his life time of writing and singing music  Bob Marley sold about 20 million records. That  Bob was one of the first international superstars  of the third world. Even after Bob Marley died on may 11th 1981 he was and is still  shown to be a great rocker and his legacy will live on forever. another thing that happen ed when Bob died was they made the bob Marley foundation that helps people. Some of bob Marley"s famous songs are Is this love,third little birds,so much trouble in the world, Sun is shinning, no woman  no cry and one cup of coffee. Bob Marley was inducted into the rock and roll fall of fame in 1994. Even today Bob Marley is touching the hearts and souls of the world!

Jimi Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix is one of the greatest guitar players ever in rock and roll history!  He was born in Seattle Washington on November 27, 1942. Jimi had a very difficult childhood but that didn't stop did from playing music; when Jimi was a teenager he learned how to play the guitar. Jimi was a big fan of the blues music and when he was 14 years old he saw Elvis Presley preform and a year after that Jimi Hendrix got his first electric guitar.  When he got the guitar he joined to bands but those didn’t last too long at all. Jimi didn’t think he needed school so in 1959 he dropped out of school and started working weird jobs but Jimi still tried continuing with his music.  Two years later Jimi went into the army and began a paratrooper and in the army Jimi started a band called the King Casuals.  But a year later Jimi was released from the army because when he was in battle he got injured. After he got of the army Jimi pursued music, he got to play back up for the great artists Little Richard and Sam Cooke. Jimi Hendrix formed a group called jimmy James and the blue flames that he played with them at gigs at the club and in the village. In 1966 Jimi got his big break and met Chas Charles and became his manger and in 1967 Jimi released his first single and it was a great hit in Britain. Some other great songs Jimi wrote were purple haze, voodoo child, burning of the midnight lamp and all along the watchtower. Most of his musical success was his guitar playing still, he was amazing at it. He did things that were never done ever and were not of thought of ever being done with a guitar. That  one of the greatest things that ever happened to think is when he was inducted into the rock and hall of fame in 1992. Even though he was a great rocker he did have a bad side to him and he  died in 1970 because he was doing drugs.

elton john

I would have to say that Reginald Kenneth Dwight aka Elton john is one of the most  interesting rock and roll artists of all time. Elton John  loved music so much, when he was only 4 years old he taught himself to play the piano all my himself!Elton proved he that he was a great musical artist when he was younger when he won a  scholarship to the youth program for the royal academy of music in London. After a few years went by Elton John didn't think he needed school anymore and he wanted to feel his dream of playing music, so he dropped out when he was 17 years old. in the beginning Elton johns career was very slow he first started his career by answering a ad to be a songwriter in 1967. be he got his big break in 1969 when he produced his first album empty sky's. Everything went right from there Elton john really was a huge hit in the 1980's with a lot of memorable songs like Little Jeannie and Empty Garden. His most memorable song was Hey Hey johnny and this song  was for his great friend who died the late and great john Lennon. That a huge thing about Elton John was that he was a homosexual  but that really wasn't a big deal because the man was a musical   artists writing songs like Rocket Man, Bennie and the Jets, Crocodile Rock  and Save rock and roll. Two huge accomplishments in Elton Johns life is winning 10 tony awards and being inducted into the hall of fame of rock and roll in1994. Almost forget one thing in 1998 Elton john was knighted by the queen of England!

The eagles

The eagles are one of the greatest bands on the  1960's and of all time in rock and history! The band the eagles throughout their very successful career  they sold  more then 100 million copies of there albums. One of their  albums  sold 29 million copies in the united states and  it was  the first album ever certified  platinum. The album was called the greatest hits 1971 to 1975. Most of the Eagles success happened in the 1970 to 1976  then it started to slow  down for the eagles and they released their last album in 1979 and it was called In the long run. This album only sold 8 million  copies and in 1980  in was a very dark year because the eagles broke up!  Some of there great songs from the eagles in there so called golden year were take it easy, witchy  woman, one of theses nights and take it to the limit. But i would have to say their greatest song ever was hotel California. About 13 pasted and the eagles still didn't get back together 2 out of the 4 band members tried going solo  but they never made it anywhere with it. All looked lost for the eagles in never seemed like they were ever going to get back together until the great year 1994 when they all got back together  and toured and released there new album hell freezes over and they sold 10 million copies with this album. I would have to say the eagles compare to the greatest rockers of all time because their  music is just so smooth and  just so classic its just awesome. To top it all off they got inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame in 1998. So anyone can think  what they want about the eagles but for sure they are one of the best of all time!

Eric Clapton

 Eric  Clapton is one of the best classic rock artists in this time. When Eric was young  he was really into  rock and roll and that is because in 1958  rock and roll exploded in Britain and For Eric's 13th birthday he wanted a guitar. After he got that guitar his life changed; when he was 16 he when to Kingston college of art. When he was  there the only thing he did was play the blues on the guitar.In 1963 he was in the band  called the yard birds  he had little success  with the band.  But he  being only to years with the band he got fed up with the band  and left! Later that year  Eric Clapton joined The blues band John Mayall & the Blues breakers.In the  next year recording they named their album  The Blue breakers and Eric Clapton and in this album Eric got the  praze of  being the greatest guitarist of his age! Even though everything was going  good in this band Eric Clapton left and a month later  He joined up with jack Bruce and ginger baker to form the band cream. When Eric Clapton was in this band he had a lot more success with his guitar playing stills  and that  The band had  three great albums and they were called Fresh cream, Wheels on fire and Disraeli gears. That this band did a lot of  touring in the united states and they got the status of the international Super star. But like all bands that Eric Clapton is in they broke up  and they broke up this bands is because everyone egos were getting way to big so Eric left the band. After that he really didn't have to much success, he tryed joining a few different bands but they never went anywhere. But a big accomplishment Eric Clapton had was in 2000 When he was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame!

billy joel

 I  would have to say that William martin Joel aka billy Joel is one of the best rockers ever in rock in roll! When Billy was a child his musical experience was  when his mother forced him to learn how to play the piano. He started playing the piano when he was only 4 years old and he kept with it; by the age of 16 he was  a pro at it. That billy  was in three bands before he could even drive a vehicle and he never finished high school he dropped out! Then in 1970 billy Joel created this first album  and it was cold spring harbor. This album wasn't very good at all and billy was  mad about this album. After that he moved to Los Angeles and stayed under the music radar for about 2 years then he started writing again. Then he had his breakout year in 1974 when he made  the album Street life serenade and in that album Billy Joel i would have to say he wrote his best song ever. That song was called piano man and that song made the top 20 hits. Another  Very good album that billy Joel made was The stranger and this album was his best because 4 of his songs in this made the billboard and all of them where in the top 25. In 1999 his sales of his songs made in to a 100 million dollars! Also that year the best thing happened to Billy Joel he was inducted in to the hall of fame of rock and roll and to top it all off That his idol Ray Charles inducted him! Some of billy Joel's songs are baby grand, Laura, this is the time, She;s right on time and Just the way you are. Billy Joel had his up and down in his life but that doesn't matter because he will go down as a great rock and roll artist in history!

Neil Young

 I would have to argue  That Neil young is one of the best of the best rock folk singer in rock and roll history! Neil young first started  to get into music is when in junior high Neil started a band called the jades. He worked  very hard perfecting melodic guitar style and also perfecting the whammy bar. A few new later he into a new band  but that didn't work out for him at all so he left the band the squirrels and started touring in folk clubs in Winnipeg. After that Neil Young moved to the united states from Canada  in 1966 with his friend Bruce Palmer. When they got here they went Los  Angele and started a band called Buffalo Springfield. The band started off good but a coupler years went by and Neil left the group but they did have a great thing happen to them. In 1997 they were inducted in to the rock and roll hall of fame. That wasn't the first time Neil young was in inducted into the hall of fame; the first time he was inducted was in 1995 for his solo career. In the late 1960's Neil  had his solo career he probably had did it for about two year until he started a new band called crazy horse. This band together made great music together and i would have to say one of there songs was heart of Gold that got up to number 1 in the rating on the rock and roll billboard. Some other songs they had were: walk like a giant, come on baby let's go downtown, Crime in the city, and roll another number. Like a lot of bands in the past Neil young was in  he broke away from this band as well.  Neil young will always be up there as one of the greatest rockers in the books With all of his great songs! He still lives today at the age of 67  still writing songs and trying to keep the rock and roll music alive with his newest album that he released in 2012 called Americana. 

beach boys

The beach boys are one of the greatest rock/pop bands of the 1960’s. The beach boys had a lot of success it there time and they were known as America’s band. The  beach boys formed in Hawthorne, California in 1961 and the  band member were  3 brothers Brian, Carl, Dennis Wilson and their cousin mike love and there two friends Al Jardine and  David marks. There famous  album  was released  in 1974 and the album was called endless summer. Some of the songs it this album were all summer  long, you’re so good to me, be true to your school, shut down, and The warmth of the sun. The beach boys have  record  36 billboard on the top 40 hits and they have also sold about 100 million sales of their music.  The beach boys basally wrote there music about having a free life and  being young in the California dream. They showed very fast development in the 1960's kinda  like the Beatles. The beach boys were  a great band all in all but in great rock bands there is always a dark side to everything  with drugs! The main person who did this was one the one  and only Brian Wilson. He suffered very bad from this addiction with drugs and it didn't help that  he had a mental illness either. It got so bad with the drugs and everything that  he withdrawal himself from the band. In the later years  Carl and Dennis Wilson died and in 2011  the five  group member who were still alive put  on a show for everyone for the last time. The biggest accomplishment  that the beach boys had is when 1988 when the original beach boys when everyone was in the band got inducted  into the rock and roll hall of fame. I really wish music could like it was in this time period because the music right now is awful!

alice cooper

Vincent Damon Furnier aka Alice cooper was one of the craziest rock and roll artists ever! He first started rocking when he was in  high school when he formed a band, the band was called the Earwigs and they later changed the name to the spiders.  Alice cooper first success was in 1971 when him and his band signed with the Warner bros. After him and his  band signed with them they had some  great songs like: such a killer, schools out, billion dollar baby and muscle of love.  A few years pasted by and Alice cooper split up with his band and went solo in 1974.  Then he had some more  success being solo when he released his  solo album welcome to my nightmare and this other album Alice cooper goes to hell. But after that really nothing came of him he hit a low and started doing drugs like a lot of great musical artists did. That happened he got help and became a born again Christan. Then he tried writing music and singing again but it never was like it was then he was younger. But   one album get him back again to his own rock and roll self with the popular album trash. in then  2004 he launched as radio program called nights with Alice cooper and that is still on today. It is a big success, but that wast his biggest accomplishment. Hiss biggest one was when him and his band he split up from got inducted into the fall of fame in 2011.

bruce springsteen

Bruce Springsteen is one of the best classic rock musicians of his time! Bruce first  got  in to rock and roll when  he saw Elvis Presley play  on the Ed Sullivan show. After Bruce  saw him play he fell in love with rock and roll and asked his mom  for his 16^th birthday for a guitar and that is what he got! Since he got his guitar when he was 16^th he hasn’t stopped playing it since then. But then he turned 18  he was drafted in the military  and was sent to Vietnam. Before though he went he failed his   exam by the military because they said he was to crazy and that  that he had a concussion. After that he was free from going into the military service so he moved to the New Jersey shore and just played  music with different groups of music. In new  jersey  Bruce  got the nickname the boss. After playing on the shore of jersey for a few  years  he got discovered by Columbia records and signed with them. Then Bruce released  his one album in 1972 after it got released a lot  of people compared  him to bob Dylan because he had the same poetic style that bob did. But his first album wasn’t very good at all! But that all changed in 1975 when he let out his best album in his whole career Born To Run  it shot up fast to 200 on the billboard  and that was his start to his great fame. Some songs on the that album were: Thunder  road, night, born to run, meeting across the river and she’s the one. After  that he had great success but the greatest  thing that happened in his musical career is when he was inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame in 1999.
